Case registered against TTP chief, spokesman

KARACHI: A case has been registered at the PIB Colony police station against the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) chief Maulana Fazlullah and spokesman Shahidullah Shahid for the bombing which claimed the life of CID SP Chaudhry Aslam.

The case includes murder, terrorism and other charges against the accused.
Earlier, police said Naeemullah, the alleged attacker who rammed the explosives-laden pick-up into the vehicle of Chaudhry Aslam, went missing seven days ago.
According to SSP Niaz Khoso, Naeemullah’s mobile phone had been switched off for the last three days. Police took his brother Shafiqullah into custody and he was being interrogated.
Police said a brother of Naeemullah had travelled to Peshawar in 2011 to carry out a suicide attack but returned after one of his accomplices was arrested. Police on Friday identified Naeemullah as the alleged suicide bomber who attacked Chaudhry Aslam. He was a resident of Banaras Colony in Karachi and his father runs a madrassah in the area.

Online adds: The father of Chaudhry Aslam’s driver, Muhammed Kamran, said his son made him proud by laying down his life for his homeland in Thursday’s blast that killed Chaudhry Aslam, the chief of the CID’s anti-terrorism cell.
Talking to a private TV channel, Kamran’s father said his son gave his life for the country, adding the martyrdom was his wish. He said Kamran’s son came into this world three days before his death and his other son was preparing to celebrate his birthday with him.
